I am a Colombian American translator and writer. I have published several poetry collections and book-length translations. 

After working as a psychologist and educator in Colombia, I came to the US and graduated from a Translation and Interpretation academic program at MDC. I have taught Spanish in the US for many years, which has given me valuable tools for my translation work. I began my translation career translating human rights documents, asylum narratives, and other legal documents. I have also translated for Penguin Random House: Brown Girl Dreaming (Niña morena sueña) by Jacqueline Woodson, One for the Murphys (Una para los Murphys) by Lynda Mullaly Hunt and The Oldest Student (La estudiante mayor) by Rita L. Hubbard.  I translated George Franklin's poetry collection, Among the Ruins / Entre las ruinas, (Katakana Editores) and I was a contributing translator of 32 Poems/32 Poemas by Hyam Plutzik (Suburbano Ediciones). I also translated the poetry collection, Who Killed Marta Ugarte? [¿Quién asesinó a Marta Ugarte?] by Jeanne-Marie Osterman, and the novel Los Santos frágiles [Fragile Saints] by Claire Ibarra.

In addition, I have published several collections of my own poetry. Habitación con moscas, and Cuando llegue la sequía, (both by Ediciones Torremozas in Madrid), the dual-language poetry collection, Último día / Last Day, as well as a joint collection with George Franklin, Conversaciones sobre agua / Conversations About Water (both, part of the Poetry Crossover Series of Katakana Editores) and a forthcoming poetry collection in Spanish, No sé si escuchas el río, (also by Katakana Editores). Part of my work and translations have appeared in several journals, including World Literature Today, Latin America Literature Today, Nueva York Poetry Review, The Ilanot Review, Lunch Ticket, Interim, Cagibi, Laurel Review, Nashville Review, Cultural Daily, El Golem, Álastor, Círculo de Poesía, Banyan Review, Hypermedia, and Nagari among others. My work has been included in several anthologies of poetry and short fiction, in the United States, Spain, and Colombia.  

I have been honored to be a finalist for the Best of the Net, the Gabo prize in translation awarded by Lunch Ticket Magazine, and the Paz Prize in poetry hosted by National Poetry Series.

Soy colombo-estadounidense, traductora y escritora y he publicado varios poemarios y traducciones de libros. 

Trabajé como psicóloga y educadora en Colombia, y después de llegar a los EE.UU., me gradué en un programa académico de Traducción e Interpretación en MDC. Además he enseñado español en EE.UU., lo que me dio valiosas herramientas para mi trabajo de traducción.  Comencé mi carrera como traductora realizando traducciones de documentos sobre derechos humanos, relatos de refugiados y documentos jurídicos. He traducido para Penguin Random House: Brown Girl Dreaming (Niña morena sueña) de Jacqueline Woodson, One for the Murphys (Una para los Murphy) de Lynda Mullaly Hunt y The Oldest Student (La estudiante mayor) de Rita L. Hubbard.  Traduje el poemario de George Franklin, Among the Ruins / Entre las ruinas, (Katakana Editores) y colaboré en la traducción de 32 Poems/32 Poemas de Hyam Plutzik (Suburbano Ediciones). También traduje la novela Fragile Saints (Los Frágiles Santos), de Claire Ibarra, y el poemario Who Killed Marta Ugarte? (¿Quién asesinó a Marta Ugarte?) de Jeanne-Marie Osterman.

Asimismo, he publicado varios poemarios con mi poesía. Habitación con moscas y Cuando llegue la sequía (ambas de Ediciones Torremozas, Madrid), el poemario bilingüe Último día / Last Day, así como el poemario bilingüe en colaboración con George Franklin Conversaciones sobre agua / Conversations About Water (ambos para la colección Poetry Crossover de Katakana Editores). He publicado en revistas como World Literature Today, Latin America Literature Today, Nueva York Poetry Review, The Ilanot Review, Lunch Ticket, Interim, Cagibi, Laurel Review, Nashville Review, Cultural Daily, El Golem, Álastor, Círculo de Poesía, Banyan Review, Hypermedia y Nagari, entre otras. He sido incluida en varias antologías de poesía y cuento, en Estados Unidos, España y Colombia.  

He sido honrada al ser escogida como finalista al premio Best of the Net, al premio Gabo en traducción, otorgado por Lunch Ticket Magazine, y al premio Paz en poesía, auspiciado por National Poetry Series.
